First part: Begins on May 24, 2003 at 12 GMT and ends on May 25, 2003 at 12 GMT.

Second part: Begins on May 31, 2003 at 12 GMT and ends on June 1, 2003 at 12 GMT

 

 Fundamental Rules and limitations

1.      The participants must use only one QRZ during the contest.

2.      Special QRZs are not allowed (for example: SES, DX activations etc.)

3.      Multi stations are allowed. (In the case a multi-operator station wins, there will be only one prize). The call will be composed by: Personal QRZ of one of the operators + the suffix M.  (For example: 2XX002/M

4.      You can contact the same operator ONLY ONE TIME during the contest.

5.      Contacts will be valid ONLY if you exchange a progressive number and radio report.

6.      Contacts must be made ONLY in LSB  “Lower Side Band”.

7.      You can operate on the whole band, keeping in mind that you cannot use the frequencies close to the international call frequency (over and under 50 khz).

8.      You CANNOT use the international calling frequency to communicate your position on the band.

9.      You ABSOLUTELY CANNOT ask for contribution of any kind, during the contest. Please do not treat badly those operators that are not interested in the competition or those who have no knowledge of the rules. Those who use bad behaviors during the contest will be excluded from the competition.

10.  You must send your logs BEFORE AND NOT after 30 days from the end of the contest to the Contest Manager: Nico – Vle. U. d’Italia 22 – 70125 Bari, ITALY. The logs must be complete of: QRZ, Signal Report RX and TX, Progressive number given, Progressive number received. IMPORTANT:  Please send your personal address, e-mail and telephone number. If you do not include your personal address, it will be impossible for us to send you your prize (in case you should win, of course!)

Dates:

The FIRST PART of the DeaR Contest begins on May 24, 2003 at 12 GMT

and ends on May 25, 2003 at 12 GMT.

The SECOND PART of the DeaR Contest begins on May 31, 2003

and ends on June 1, 2003 at 12 GMT.

Jolly

There will be five (5) Jolly stations on the air for a limited period of time. The Jolly stations will have a minimum of one hour each to contact as many stations as possible. These Jolly stations will not compete neither for the prizes nor for the results. The only reason for their participation is to give out  progressive numbers and signal reports to the operators in contest.

The Jolly stations will have a special QRZ: Prefix DR/Jolly e n° assigned.

Example: 1DR/Jolly1 or 20 DR/Jolly1

Points and Multipliers

Penalties

  1. – 5 (minus five) points for each contact not valid (log without signal reports, QRZ or progressive number given and received)
  2. – 50 (minus fifty) points if you do not contact any Jolly station.
  3. – 10 (minus ten) points for each double QSO. (Remember: Only one QSO with each 

               station is allowed.

Important: Since it is impossible for us to verify….try to use ONLY the power of your radio, so that the band will not be totally saturated with RF…..Thank you.

Prizes

This is the most exciting part of the contest!

1st Classified : Directional Antenna Yagi Long Space (Minimum 3 Elements, Maximum 5 Elements) + Certificate

2nd Classified : Desk Microphone ADONIS + Certificate

3rd Classified : 1500 Special QSLs (marked DeaR Contest) for whatever group and whatever QRZ + Certificate

4th Classified : Plate + Certificate

5th Classified : Plate + Certificate

                        The names of the operators or groups sponsoring will be reported.                                                                                                                                                   

                        If the amount  offered exceeds or is not sufficient to increase the antenna with 

                        an extra element, this amount will be used for the mailing  expenses of the

                        major prizes. If the amount is enough or exceeds the cost of the

                        two extra elements, another 3 element antenna will be offered to the second

                        classified and so on. In this case the number of operators classified may be

                        brought to 6 instead of 5 as written in the rules of the competition.
